Stainless Steel 253MA pipe fittings provide an ideal balance of chemical, mechanical, and physical attributes that are specifically designed for use in high-temperature conditions. Chemically, 253MA has around 20–22% chromium, 10–12% nickel, and minor additions of nitrogen and rare earth metals, which greatly promote its oxidation resistance and high-temperature strength. Mechanically, the fittings are known to have a very good creep strength, satisfactory fatigue resistance, and low thermal stress behavior, which has structural integrity that goes up to 1150°C. Physically, 253MA is approximately 7.8 g/cm³ dense and has excellent formability and weldability and is thus suited for furnace components, kilns, and heat treatment systems.
