Stainless Steel 316/316L forged fittings offer a well-balanced combination of chemical, mechanical, and physical properties, making them suitable for demanding industrial environments. Chemically, they are composed of 16–18% chromium, 10–14% nickel, and 2–3% molybdenum, which significantly enhances their resistance to pitting and crevice corrosion, especially in chloride-rich conditions. The 316L grade has a lower carbon content, improving weldability and minimizing the risk of carbide precipitation. Mechanically, these fittings provide excellent tensile strength, toughness, and fatigue resistance. Physically, they have a density of about 8.0 g/cm³ and a melting point around 1375–1400°C, maintaining performance in high-pressure and high-temperature systems.

The 316L grade is particularly favored in welded applications since its low carbon content avoids precipitation of carbides, which will provide long-lasting performance and structural integrity in corrosive environments.
