Monel K500 forged fittings have superior chemical, mechanical, and physical properties, which are well-suited for high-duty applications. Chemically, they consist of nickel (63%), copper (30%), and minor proportions of aluminum and titanium, which are responsible for the excellent corrosion resistance in seawater and aggressive chemical conditions. Mechanically, Monel K500 has high strength and good toughness, with a tensile strength of as much as 125,000 psi and good fatigue strength. Physically, it maintains its properties at high and low temperatures and shows negligible expansion and very high resistance to stress corrosion cracking. These features make Monel K500 fittings well adapted for application in marine, chemical processing, and aerospace applications.
